My Travels and Inspiration
I’m of Swiss-Italian heritage, living in Australia, and have spent my life between cultures, learning to see the world through many lenses. From the soft red lights glowing in European cemeteries at night, to candles on window sills, Christmas trees, vigils, and parades, I’ve always been drawn to their quiet beauty. Candles that accompany worship, meditation, prayer, or simply light a room with a golden glow and gentle fragrance all speak the same silent language of warmth and peace.
Craftsmanship and Materials
Over time, I fell in love with the old-fashioned way of making things slowly, thoughtfully, with my hands and heart. I turned away from mass production, preferring to create each candle as something personal and heartfelt. With the kind and generous help of candle artisans in Europe and South Africa, I learned to pour every candle with care, using natural waxes such as beeswax, coco-soy, and other blends to bring comfort, serenity, and presence into every home.I’ve also embraced the purity of 100% beeswax, with its natural honey scent and clean burn, as a reminder that simplicity can be truly beautiful. I still hand-dip my beeswax taper candles the old-fashioned way, in an old olive oil tin I’ve turned into my dipping pot. Simple tools and patient hands can create the most beautiful things. It’s just so much fun to sit at my craft table, with 1940’s jazz in the background, creating event gifts that add beauty to a table and linger in memory long after the celebration ends. I love experimenting with rustic candles and seeing the combination of colors take shape
The Calling and Purpose
Now, at 71, this has become more than a craft—it feels like a calling. A way to share light in a world that can sometimes feel too hurried, too loud, uncertain, and too messy. Whether you light a candle for peace, for memory, or simply for the quiet beauty it brings, I hope it touches your heart just as creating them has touched mine.
